Darren Evans Injury Devastating To Virginia Tech
Hokie nation collectively held their breath on Friday when Darren Evans heard a pop in his knee after stepping wrong on a lineman’s knee in practice. Evans reported that he was only 70% healthy but continued to practice through the weekend with a non-contact jersey.
Today Evans returned to the practice field in full pads ready to hit. During practice the Virginia Tech back went down with a season ending ACL tear on a simple cut running a route.
Evans was the ACC’s second leading rusher last year with 1,265 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns as a freshman. The young runner will be missed by the Hokies who need a consistent back to compliment Tyrod Taylor at quarterback.
Virginia Tech will have trouble replacing Evans as only one of their reserves has experience at the collegiate level. The Hokies are thought to have a lot of talent on the bench at running back but the experience level is lacking.
Will Virginia Tech be able to recover from the injury to Evans? Will Tyrod Taylor be able to handle the added pressure of caring the offense with the absence of his running back?

Let the future judge Michael Vick
Running back
Ryan WIlliams was the top RB in the nation. He’ll blow up this year. Josh Oglesby is pretty solid.
