Do you think the Hokies should use the Wing-T?
With the talent emreging for next year, plus all the players returning in the skill positions, should the offense run a Wing-T formation to use those players more effectively? The formation relies on the play action, so does the Hokies. The formation uses three backs, we have a few more great backs. Plus the formation is a great basis for option, misdirection, QB sneak/design, and makes good use of available speed. What do you think?

Love the thought, but I don't think you can run the Wing-T and just run "SOME" Wing-T
I’d love the ability to run the Wing-T formation, and to be honest I can’t tell you how many fans would salivate to see a Wing package in their playbook. The thing is, I wouldn’t want us to run it all the time, and to be honest, it’s VERY hard to run the Wing-T if it’s not being run all the time. That offense is based so much on precision and timing that I just think it would be very difficult to try to apply as a part-time formation. Think like the inside/outside option that we employed at the beginning of the year that Florida runs with Hernandez, except 10 times harder. P.S. we scrapped that play because it wasn’t successful…probably because we didn’t run it enough to get good at it.

Maybe not as a part time formation, but we dont use a lot of wing backs recently. Personnel-wise, we have capability and experience to get the plays down, plus Wing-T,double wing, maybe even the archaic single wing could be used. I was just wondering if it is possible that we might see something new next year, or will we run I/ power I( not that thats bad, we have great backs to rush the ball).
My limited understanding of the Wing t suggests that its effectiveness is improved when there is a threat to pass after it has been sent out to the wing. Does such a threat exist given the personnel we have or currently projected to have? generally we should do anything that confuses line backers and keeps them from flooding the box. With our line in some transition it should be incumbent upon the coaching staff to find ways to create space for Ryan williams and daren Evans using formation and misdirection until the front four develops some unit cohesion.
