Boise State Game possibly moved to opening weekend.

Just read an article on SI Sports about how they are projecting the VT-BSU game to be moved from early October to the opening game in september. Anyone else not feeling this move and the game should be kept where and when it was originally scheduled or if the date is moved then VT force the game into Lane in September instead of fed ex field? As a VT fan it always is good to get early primetime exposure, but regardless this game will be a headline game.

I like the game

in October. With all we have to replace on D, moving it to Labor Day could be a disaster for us.

Control

Who controls when that game is played the schools or the NCAA? Anybody know the answer. I think Boise will be really pushing hard to have the game moved because they will be coming off the Oregon State game.

ESPN

probably has a say. They would probably be the ones paying Central Michigan to move its date with Tech.

This move

really helps Boise State in that they have more time to prepare for us. We tend not to do well the first game of the year.

I would think that both schools and ESPN would have to agree on the move. The schedules arent locked in, but making one schedule change causes changes with the rest of the schedule, plus changes in schedules for other teams that VT and Boise have to play. I would guess that the game may stay in October.

it's always better to lose early, if it happens than later in the season.

Why not?

I thought this might be a bad move for our young D until I thought back to the Oregeon vs Boise game to start the season. That was a pretty ugle affair on the blue turf and I think Boise will have many of the same problems early at fed ex. I went to the 2004 game against USC and except for a bad PI call in the third Tech would have taken the game to the wire and possibile won. We also looked good against Bama early.

“They”, and we all know they can be wrong, say that defense is easier to repalce than offense, so I think we would have the edge in an early match up. I think Bud could field a great game plan for Boise who’s offense will only get better for each game.

Last I heard it was up to Boise to move its game to lock in the Labor day brawl.
