Annette Gets It Right
ESPN.com's ACC blogger did her Top 10 ACC teams of the decade today. Three Virginia Tech teams made the cut and only Maryland had two on the list. But where she really nailed it was the top Tech team on her list, the 2005 team. That team didn't win a conference title, but if you go by stats and talent, that was far and away the best team we've had since joining the ACC. Over at the Big East blog, the 2000 Tech team made the list at No. 9.

also had much better stats
than the other teams of the decade. the 04 team pulled it together and had intangibles and leadership and all those great things you cant put a value on, but the 05 team would have crushed them.

no way
pressure vick, hit him a couple times and he’d crumble.
that team didn’t have near the toughness the 04 team did, nor did it play and barely lose the end of the year no. 1 and no. 2 team. gotta put a lot of value on that.
nor did they lose
at home to a shitty ncsu team.

2004 v. 2005
Yeah, that team was shitty, but they had a nasty D-Line. Does anybody remember that Randall went down 10 times that game? Some of that was bad O-line play for Tech, but jeez! But no doubt, what the 2004 team had in senior leadership, the 2005 team more than made up for with vastly superior talent and an extra year of playing experience. The 2005 team in my opinion was the most talented team we’ve ever fielded, so it would easily have blown out the 2004 team, despite their intangibles.
