Things I'd like to see this year
- John Graves become a one-man wrecking ball. He's 12th in tackles at this point and doesn't have a sack yet this season. I'd like for him to harness that play-making potential he showed during the bowl.
- Jack Tyler/Tariq Edwards getting more reps at backer. Is it possible to sub out JGW and go with two traditional backers, especially for a rush-oriented team like GT? Looks like Barquell won't see the field this year at all.
- More zone-read option. Love that move out of the shotgun where Tyrod can either hand off or run the option with split backs.
- A play or set where Tyrod, RMFW, Darren, and David are all on the field at the same time. Motion David out to the side, or run a diamond-formation with Tyrod as the point. I saw that in old VT games where the bottom back gets a pitch and the other two block for him. Defenses would likely forfeit at this point.
- NO ORANGE UNIFORMS
- Cody Grimm and a sixth year of eligibility

Well
Graves has played much better the last two games. DTs don’t get many sacks, but Graves is becoming more disruptive.
Tyler and Edwards played a lot Saturday against Duke. Both apparently did fine.
We’ve been going with two LBs and JGW on the bench A LOT this season. We’ve shown nickel packages and a “30” package with three down linemen. Even with Whitley out against Duke we ran this a lot with Exum at FS and Fuller in at nickel back.
I don’t want to see the zone-read against GT. They run a 3-4 and I’d like to see us just run up the gut out of the I against it. Could be effective against UNC and Miami, though.
