Virginia Tech RB Ryan Williams Will Not Play Against Central Michigan
Again, per Jimmy Robertson's Twitter and the team injury report:
Ryan Williams out for the Central Michigan game.
This will be the third game Williams has missed because of the injury to his hamstring he suffered in the first half against East Carolina. At this point I doubt Williams comes back until the Georgia Tech game at the earliest. Maybe they'll want him to get a few reps against Duke just to ease back into game speed before Tech plays the Jackets.
At any rate, an injury we were told wasn't serious and didn't require an MRI has now kept Williams out of a quarter of the Hokies' regular season games. I don't think there's such a thing as a non-serious hamstring injury for a running back and we're definitely learning that now.
I'm glad they aren't pushing Williams or putting him out there before he's ready. However, I am worried that the injury is more serious that we were initially led to believe, just like with linebacker Barquell Rivers. Remember when there was a possibility he'd come back against Boise State? Well we're halfway through the season and there's still no sign of him.

Yeah, I say it's the right call
God, this guy is relentless, huh? We better go buy his knockoffs so he’ll shut up! And I’m also glad we’re not pushing Williams back. It’s important that we have him healthy for the stretch run, and it will do nothing but improve Wilson and Evans when they are called on when Williams returns. Also, I’d say this injury is significant enough to keep Williams around an extra year. Anyone else think this? Also I think Barquell just needs to take a medical redshirt. There’s no real point of him coming back now. The NC is off the table, and Bruce has played well enough so far to make me think he is apt enough to handle the ACC slate.
