"Foster's lunch-pail approach would play well in the Iron City. Ditto his record of building ornery, lock-down defenses.

Foster is familiar with Pitt from Virginia Tech's time in the Big East -- the teams clashed annually from 1993-2003 and are scheduled for a home-and-home in 2012 and '13."
David Teel from the Newport News Daily Press says Bud Foster is a good fit for the Pittsburgh job. Whether or not we have to break out the alert system again remains to be seen.

Think it's on the same level as Vandy
Pitt is a major football program that does not want to give someone a learning period of how to become a head coach. They’re big enough where they can find someone who at least has some experience at it rather than giving a new guy a shot. The only reason I even knock it up a notch to Vandy’s level is cause of the reasons David Teel gave, but still doesn’t seem likely.
Realistic to go straight to BCS school?
Granted Bud Foster is very well respected coach, but how realistic is the goal of jumping straight to a BCS conference school? I know teams have flirted with him in the past, but I agree that a lot of schools may not be willing to give the job to someone who hasn’t risen through the ranks as a head coach at a less prestigious school.
The only scenario I could see would be an ACC team luring Bud away to strike a blow at VT. Clemson again maybe? UNC?
