Virginia Tech Will Face Miami in Quarterfinals of 2010 ACC Tournament

Virginia Tech learned its opponent for Friday's quarterfinal game in the 2010 ACC Tournament. Miami, the No. 12 seed in the tournament, upset Wake Forest 83-62 in the first round Thursday afternoon in Greensboro. It will be the third consecutive year the Hokies have opened the conference tournament against Miami. They beat the Hurricanes in each of the last two ACC tournaments.

The Hurricanes shot over 51 percent for the game and were led by Reggie Johnson, who had 22 points. Miami was 6-for-13 from behind the arc in the first half and led by 14 at the break.

I really don't like this situation for the Hokies. They'll come into their quarterfinal game with nothing to gain by beating Miami but everything to lose if they fall. You don't want the last time the committee sees you to be a bad loss to a bad team.

On the positive side, there's no way Miami's going to shoot nearly as well as they did Thursday afternoon. At least that's what I'm telling myself.

Miami shooting

when we played miami at the bank united center they shot 60% and we still only lost it in the last minute or two. I still believe getting the bye in the acc tourney locked us in for the ncaa tourney, but we still need to beat miami and try to win the whole acc tourney. go hokies!
