Hokies Baseball Team Plays UVa This Weekend. Do You Care?

Virginia Tech's baseball team has won back-to-back series against Florida State and Miami and is 23-11 (8-7) this season. The Hokies are No. 20 in this week's Baseball America poll and they travel to Charlottesville to take on the No. 2 Wahoos this weekend.

It's been a great season so far for Pete Hughes' team, but how much do Tech fans really care how well the baseball team does. The football team is currently going through spring practice and has another scrimmage scheduled for this weekend.

I'm not a college baseball fan at all and the only sports that really count to me in the VT-UVa rivalry are football and men's basketball. So while it's really cool that the Hokies are doing well in baseball, at the end of the day it really doesn't show up on my radar. I'd rather watch college softball or tennis than college baseball any day. But I'll leave it up to you. How much do you care about this weekend's big series against the Hoos?

Any time we can level the playing field with Virginia at all I'll take it

I’m sick of the bullshit UVA uses to talk smack to us about soccer, lax, baseball, swimming… that alone makes the resurgence of Va Tech relevant to Hokie Nation.

From my early days listening to Bill Roth depict a dazzling Michael Vick dance around the field to glory until now, it has been more than a pleasure to be a Hokie fan. Since 1998, there has only been one game played in Lane Stadium I did not attend (stupid chicken pox), and I dread the day where I am not fortunate enough to be in the stands week after week.

It's a great day to be a Hokie!

Isn’t that all part of Virginia’s overarching athletic department plan? Excel in non-revenue sports that no one cares about and revenue sports take a backseat to the non-revenue sports.

All the twitter updates about ACC baseball is making me care. Also Josh is doing a phenomenal job writing about the Hokies, so that’s pulling me in. Fuck you all.

The part about you getting sucked in, not the great writing job.

Whether you care or not

UVA is #2. As your rival, you should care enough to beat them just for that. That’s how we approach georgie. Though I DO care about baseball, basketball, softball, football, etc.
