ACC Expansion?

What happens if the Big Ten expands and adds Rutgers, Notre Dame, Nebraska, and Mizzou? Would you want the ACC to expand as well? If so, who would you add? I would suggest 4 teams Pitt, WVU, Uconn, and Syracuse. This would create a power conference for basketball and get a few more credible football programs. Pitt is decent at football and a former Big East foe, as well as, a good basketball program. WVU would add both a good football program, a good basketball program, and a renewed rivalry for Tech. Syracuse would add basketball and Uconn would add basketball as well as an up and coming football program. Plus each of these teams would increase the ACC viewership area into WV, PA, NY, and more of New England. I'd say split the teams into a north and south divisions. North being- Pitt, Maryland, Syracuse, WVU, Uconn, BC, UVA, and VT. The South being Clemson, Duke, UNC, NC State, Wake, FSU, Miami and Georgia Tech.

From what I've read

The Big Ten won’t stop at 15 if Notre Dame accepts. Basically, if they get Notre Dame, they’ll add another and get to 16, but if they don’t get Notre Dame they’ll either stay at 11 or just add Rutgers, Nebraska and Mizzou. So if they go to 16, the last team could be Syracuse or Pitt.

However, if the ACC were to add four teams, either to go to 16 or replace poached teams, I would want it to be the four you mentioned.

IF the ACC needs to go to 16...

You have nailed the logical 4.

The presidents and chancellors would prefer Rutgers to WVU if Rutgers is left out of the Big Ten realignment, but WVU is by far the better addition athletically and in terms of potential and existing great rivalries. The competitive dynamic and interest stirred by UVa, VT, Pitt, WVU and Maryland in a single conference would be terrific for the region. It’s geographically logical.

Adding Cuse and UConn adds two more superpower basketball programs to the ACC (much needed) and gives BC its natural rivals back. The media demographics would be terrific for future contract negotiations.

There may be a short-term hit to revenue per school, even if the ESPN negotiations can be reopened to accommodate the larger market, but it would be worth it in the long run. Decisions like these are about the next 75 years, not the next 5.

What a college sports conference. All college sports. And what a media saturation (Boston, New England, NYC, Upstate New York, NJ, Pennsylvania, and all the way down to DC, the Carolinas, Atlanta and Florida.)

I actually hope this happens and we can get some sensible geographic divisions.

I would hope for 4-team pods that shift annually so you play all 3 in your pod every year, 4 from another pod (every 3 years), and 1 each from the other 2 pods. The CCG would be based upon the two leaders of each division (your pod plus the pod in which you play all times in a given year) so the divisions themselves would change each year. The pods would always stay the same. it makes certain that all teams play each other at least every 3 years and rivalries are nurtured.
