Where I Come From: EA Sports NCAA Football 2011 Available Now
This post is sponsored by EA Sports NCAA Football 11.
It's Christmas in July for college football fans as today marks the release of the latest in EA Sports' NCAA Football series. If you don't want to look at Tim Tebow for the next 12 months, you can get your hands on the covers made above by readers Casey Richey and Gobbler. Enjoy the game and may it get you through the next month and a half.
And now, a word from our sponsor:
When you go to a particular school or grow up around college football, you are more than just a fan. It's who you are. We thought we could leverage this pride in your roots and show that "where you come from" is more than just a statement about geography. By positioning NCAA Football 11 as a game that understands this pride and is authentic to these traditions, the takeaway should be that anything that is in college football is in NCAA Football 11.
And this doesn't just include game play (though that's a huge part of it). It's rivals and mascots; it's legends and stories. It's those things that are at the very fabric of the game itself. Of course the game is great this year as well. With authentic entrances, mascots and specific offenses for each team, the term "where I come from" takes on a much larger meaning. While playing NCAA Football 11 is ultimately a great sports sim, it should also give you a sense of the pride and emotion one has for being a fan of a team they will never not be a part of.
Hope you enjoyed our "Where I Come From" series as much as I did. We're getting close to real, actual football, guys.

So what I gathered from that...
is that the Hokies will run on the field to “Enter Sandman.” If that’s the case, I’m buying the game for that reason alone.
Pirates, Vikings, Hokies. I'm used to heartbreak. At least I have the Penguins....

no they don't
they show the team coming through the tunnel, then they run out and jump up and down on the field. it was kind of lame. the fans look like they’re jumping up and down a little. 360 or ps3?

Don't buy it just for that, bc it doesn't happen that way
nope…they just abandoned one of the top entrances in college football…because we’re Virginia Tech. We’re nobodies, right? I mean obviously they couldn’t do Sandman for copyright reasons, BUT, they could have at least had the fans jumping up and down and played some generic song and AT LEAST had us running through the gauntlet that the players run through. The only reason I’m not too upset with this is that I didn’t have that high expectations for it. But, things that did bother me…Ryan Williams is only an 87 in speed! Josh Oglesby is a 90 in speed! Did they even watch college football last year!? Barquell Rivers and Bruce Taylor are out of position, and then therefore so are the MLB’s on that game who are actually ROLB’s. I think they included Jake Johnson too. Also, Oglesby isn’t a FB. That stuff is all changeable, but it’s annoying nonetheless. The verdict is still out for me and this game.
they and they probably
would have had to pay ridiculous cash for the right to put the song in the game. in past versions you had the ability to put your own sound effects in the game and hokie20 had a patch available at cruhland.com that allowed you to watch VT enter the game to Enter Sandman.

last i heard...
Oglesby is supposed to be a B-Back, Fullback type of player this year. Not still the case?
Haven’t gotten to play it yet, but I was pretty disappointed in looking up the ratings. Tyrod has an 82 speed, Logan Thomas is a tight end, and Jeron GW is a 69…but Eddie Whitely is an 88! I have a lot of faith in Eddie, but thats awful high for a player who hasn’t started at FS. Plus I think RMFW at 93 is a little light too. but at least they put the maroon throwbacks in this one.
Played the demo last week
and if you’ve played the game before, then this year’s seems much cooler to me. The motions of the players seem much more like humans not being able to turn 180 degrees instantly. Also, the receivers seem to have an idea of where they are on the field. Haven’t looked at any VT ratings, but I believe I’ll be buying this game soon.
I bought it last night
And actually like this version a lot (PS3). The game play is a lot more realistic and run blocking (as well as front seven pursuit) is much improved. Before, I could run HB counter with RMFW and gain 20-30 yards every play. While we all know he actually does that in real life, the game beefed up linebacker awareness so that they pursue you on the edge and breaking off a 10 yard run is a big accomplishment. QBs also need to wind up to throw deep and the defensive line can shake off their blocks a lot easier. I hated last year when my DTs would get passed back and forth between a guard and center with no hope of breaking through. Playing in the maroon throwbacks is sweet. All in all, I think it’s a worthwhile improvement from last year.
I also have another Tyrod Cover
This is my second one so its definitley better
