A bit of concern was expressed about locker room chemistry in regards to David Wilson's statements last week concerning playing time. Wilson simply stated that he would rather have been redshirted than to carry the ball four times in two games.
For those comments, some on the internet editorial board immediately called him another spoiled athlete whining about me me me. Despite his 6+ yards per carry average heading into the ECU game, I think and thought he had a valid point. After all, if the Hokies offense doesn't plan on incorporating him heavily, why not save a year of eligibility so we won't end up 'young' at the HB position in a couple of years like we seem to keep doing at various defensive positions.
With that said, after his performance against ECU, I am a huge fan. His speed, though impressive, is not what earned my love. His agility and fight for that extra yard or two won me over. Some reporters are giving the coaching staff a thumbs up now for not redshirting him. Instead, they should be giving him a thumbs up for voicing his opinion for the good of the team (and himself).
Yes, the internet editorial board owes Mr. Wilson an apology.
