Boise State 33, Virginia Tech 30: A Whole Lot of People Saw Us Lose
Virginia Tech's game against Boise State Monday was the most-viewed college football game in ESPN's history, according to a release from the network:
The Labor Day matchup averaged a 7.3 rating (equaling the average for USC at Ohio State) and stands as the highest rating for a college football game in 16 years (Florida State at Miami averaged a 7.7 on October 8, 1994).
While we beat the Ohio State-USC game in households with 7,252,000, that game had more total viewers with over 10.5 million to our measly 9.8+ million. It was also the highest-rated program regardless of network on Monday. Yeah, we lost, but a ton of people (and presumably recruits) watched us. Whether or not you consider that a good thing is up to you.

As someone that traveled a great distance to pull for my team, I want to say thank you for being such great people, and fans of your team.
You created one of the best atmospheres I have ever attended. You crowd was loud as well as welcoming.
I live in Metro Detroit and am not only a fan of the Bronco but of many Detroit teams to include the U of M. Because of where I live I get a chance to travel and attend sporting events at many great venues for games of meaning.
What I walked into Monday night can only be compared to the Detroit Lions vs Dallas cowgirls playoff game in 1991. You never gave up on your team, even when you were down you stayed loud and proud.
Lastly let me say this what a great group of people, just top shelf all around before during and after the game V-Tech fans are classy people and I will never forget that.
Thank you !
