Hokies in the NFL Week 8

Week 8 of the NFL season is in the books and there's a little more clarity in terms of which teams are real and which teams are not. Are the Eagles real? That remains to be seen but they took a big step back to making people believers.

Follow the jump to see how former Hokies fared in Week 8 of the 2011 NFL season.

Star-divide

Inactives: Xavier Adibi, Darren Evans
Out for the season: Roc Carmichael (shoulder), Cody Grimm (knee), Ryan Williams (knee), Josh Morgan (ankle)

James Anderson-LB, Carolina Panthers: Anderson had 4 solo tackles and 7 total as the Panthers dropped yet another game.

Kam Chancellor-S, Seattle Seahawks: Seattle lost to Cincinnati 34-12 but Chancellor had an interception in the game. In addition, he tallied 4 solo tackles and 7 total.

Brandon Flowers-CB, Kansas City Chiefs: In the bright lights of Monday Night Football, the Chiefs and Chargers combined for 8 total turnovers. Flowers did not have a part in any turnovers but had 4 solo tackles and 5 total tackles, with 4 passes defended.

DeAngelo Hall-CB, Washington Redskins: Hall and the Redskins went to Toronto to play the Bills, eh. Hal had 4 solo tackles with 6 total tackles, eh. Redskins lost 23-0, eh.

Jeff King-TE, Arizona Cardinals: The Arizona Cardinals played the Baltimore Ravens and Jeff King hauled in 3 catches for 29 yards.

Carlton Powell-DT, Atlanta Falcons: Atlanta had a bye week.

Eddie Royal-WR, Denver Broncos: The Denver Tebows got rocked by the Lions 45-10 and Eddie had 6 catches for 41 yards in the loss.

Tyrod Taylor-QB, Baltimore Ravens: Did not accumulate any stats.

Darryl Tapp-DE, Philadelphia Eagles: Tapp had a solo tackle in the game.

Mike Vick-QB, Philadelphia Eagles: After a bye week, the struggling Eagles came back with a big win over the Cowboys. Vick completed 21 of 28 passes for 279 yards and 2 TDs and ran for 50 yards on 7 carries. Vick was sacked 4 times in the game but it didn't matter as the Eagles easily won. Vick had a 12-yard pass to Jeremy Maclin and 9-yards to Tom Brent Celek

Vick's excellent side-arm pass under pressure to Maclin for the first TD of the game:

Video of the pass to Celek:

Jason Worilds-LB, Pittsburgh Steelers: Did not accumulate any stats.

GAME BALL: I think it has to go to Vick for the big performance on Sunday Night Football with his 75% completion rate and pair of touchdowns.

odd omission

I’d vote Vick #1, and Kam #2, and it seems like most would agree the way the voting is going. But what struck me as odd is that Flowers wasn’t on the list. Seems like he’d be a clear #3 over Royal and Anderson.

Flowers is having a great year and is quickly becoming a top CB in the league. Glad to see his skills improving even with stronger opponents.
