The Virginia Tech Hokies are an early 11-point favorite in their game against the North Carolina Tar Heels, according to OddsShark. The Hokies host the Tar Heels at 8 p.m. EST Thursday in Blacksburg.
The Hokies opened as a 13-point favorite on the website 5 Dimes, but that line quickly moved down to -11. Tech has been favored in its previous 10 games as well and is 3-7 against the spread, 2-7 against FBS teams this year.
North Carolina is 4-6 against the spread and 3-6 against FBS teams this year. This is only the third time this season the Tar Heels have been underdogs. In the previous two games, at Georgia Tech and at Clemson, the Heels lost both straight up and against the spread.
The Hokies were favored in six of the previous seven meetings against the Tar Heels since joining the ACC in 2004 and were 4-3 against the spread in those games. The Hokies were favored in the previous three meetings at Lane Stadium with the Tar Heels beating the spread in the last two.
