2011 National Signing Day: 3-Star WR Robert Lockhart Commits to Virginia Tech
Virginia Tech has picked up another commitment two days before National Signing Day, according to the Palm Beach Post:
Robert Lockhart rose as quickly as anyone in the recruiting ranks this winter. And on Monday, he ended a late-January recruiting frenzy for his services and picked his college.
Lockhart (6-1, 180, No. 36 on the Big Board) verbally committed to Virginia Tech, choosing the Hokies over Kansas State, Nebraska and Vanderbilt, among others.
Post writer Jeff Greer said Lockhart didn't play football as a junior to focus on basketball. A three-star prospect according to Rivals, he could be another diamond in the rough.
Lockhart was recruited by Torrian Gray, who has done a good job recruiting South Florida in recent years. The Lakeland native also helped sign Jayron Hosley and Dwight Tucker out of the Sunshine State.
In other recruiting news, the Spartanburg Herald Journal reports five-star linebacker Stephone Anthony has eliminated Florida from his choices. Anthony will announce his decision Wednesday at 11:30 a.m., reportedly on ESPNU. Anthony will choose between the Hokies, Clemson and UNC. Most recruitniks predict he'll be a Tiger.

If Lockhart is a 3-star talent then I'm a 2 headed monkey.
ESPN already has him as 4-stars and I would amazed if Scout.com doesn’t rate him as a 4-star player as well.
His highlight videos look much better than many of their 4-star receivers.
Virginia Tech got very lucky on this one.
If Lockhart had played football his junior year and then attended a few summer camps he would have been a preseason 4-star rated player and then the gaytors, half-moles, canes and other deep south teams would have been all over him.
Given that all of VT’s top receivers will be upper classmen in 2011 and that the VT offense will likely become more pass oriented with LT at QB, I believe that Lockhart will thrive at Virginia Tech.
I hope your right
Pass oriented offense at VT… That would be different. They should, as VT will have a good WR core, a RB that is dangerous running routs, and a QB that is not run-first oriented. But, I’ll believe it when I see it.
