5 Virginia Tech Hokies Invited to 2011 NFL Combine

Five Virginia Tech players will get the chance to showcase their talents in front of NFL scouts at the 2011 NFL Scouting Combine. Cornerback Rashad Carmichael, running back Darren Evans, defensive tackle John Graves, quarterback Tyrod Taylor and running back Ryan Williams were all invited to participate in the event.

The combine will be held Feb. 23-March 1 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis and will be televised by NFL Network. For Taylor and Carmichael, the combine will represent a second chance to perform well on a big stage. Taylor played in the East-West Shrine Game and Carmichael took part in Senior Bowl preparations but didn't appear to play in the game.

Taylor was invited to the combine as a quarterback and is starting to win over some of his detractors who said he could improve his draft stock by moving to wide receiver. He still faces an uphill battle, but it looks like he stands a good chance of getting drafted as a QB in this spring's NFL Draft.
