2012 Virginia Tech Basketball: East Tennessee St. Story Stream

The new look Hokies will be making their 2012-13 debut Saturday afternoon against the East Tennessee State Buccaneers, the first game under first-time head coach James Johnson. Johnson will have quite a task ahead of him, taking over for the Hokies' second-winningest head coach in program history and Johnson's former boss, Seth Greenberg. He also has a dearth of scholarship players, with only eight active for this year's squad, and seven for Saturday's game as sophomore guard Marquis Rankin will miss the game due to a death in the family. The Hokies beat the Bucs 64-53 in Cassell Coliseum to open the season a year ago, but in that game missed starting point guard Erick Green. For all the updates you can stand, stay tuned to this story stream.

Ranking The ACC Post Players

Back at the beginning of October, Jerry Steinberg of State Of The U, Miami's SB Nation blog, began ranking the players in the ACC by position. I responded to his Point Guard Rankings a few weeks ago (you can find that post here), and did my riff on his Shooting Guard Rankings here, and continuing to rank the conference's players by position as I see it fit prior just as he did. So make sure to check out his rankings as well, as he ranked by positional depth, so different concepts, both worth a read. After ranking the small forwards last night, (his can be found here), I finished it off this morning with post players, just in time for the season. To see how Jerry's rankings differ with mine, check them out here. Do keep in mind though, Jerry is ranking by positional depth and I am ranking on an individual basis. Enjoy.

Ranking The ACC Shooting Guards

I responded to his Point Guard Rankings a little over a week ago (you can find that post here), but I intend to continuing ranking the positions as I see it fit prior just as he did. This time I ranked the returning ACC shooting guards. To see how Jerry's rankings differ with mine, check them out here. Ranking The ACC Point Guards

Back in September, Jerry Steinberg of State Of The U, Miami's SB Nation blog, wrote a post ranking the ACC guards. While many of his rankings were spot on, I think he missed the boat on Erick Green, ranking him the seventh eighth-best point, the lowest I have seen by far. So I thought I'd give my two cents by doing my own ranking of the ACC point guards and righting the ship on Green.
