Sources on campusnhave confirmed that J.T. Thompson will transfer to Charlotte for his sixth year of eligibility. He will be available to play immediately due to a medical hardship granted to him a few months prior.

Thompson went to high school in the Charlotte area, so he will be close to home--it was his desire to be closer to family, including his young daughter. A starting role with the 49ers shouldn't be out of the question; if he can stay healthy he'll be a key component to a starting five that returns two of its top three leading scorers.
