Hokies In The NFL: Oakland Raiders Released Wide Receiver DJ Coles Yesterday

Greg Little drops another pass. - Ron Antonelli

The above tweet by the Managing Editor of Silver and Black Pride, an SBN partner site who we did an excellent Q&A on Coles with last week.

It appears that the Oakland Raiders are going to try out another big WR we are all familiar with in converted former UNC RB Greg Little, who Deadspin's little sister site Regressing referred to as "maybe the NFL's worst WR."

This on the Raiders sparkling new acquisition from Raiders.com:

Little has played in 48 games with 41 starts in his first three seasons (2011-13), all with the Cleveland Browns. His career totals include 155 receptions for 1,821 yards and eight touchdowns to go along with five rushes for 30 yards. Last season, he hauled in 41 passes for 465 yards and two touchdowns. In 2012, Little posted a team-high 53 receptions and became the first Brown since 2006-07 to lead the team in catches in back-to-back seasons. As a rookie in 2011, his 61 catches were second among all rookies, trailing only A.J. Green (65). The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder out of North Carolina was originally Cleveland’s second-round selection (59th overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft.

Don't let the rookie stats deceive you, Little's hands are horrible. He has similar size to Coles, perhaps just a bit stronger, and definitely marketable experience. Though playing with Cleveland one has to ask how developed he could truly be after three years. I would definitely give all of my cost-efficient free agents a look before I went and committed extra money to Little (as a 3 year veteran his minimum threshold would be higher)

I just hope that Coles knee wasn't being balky in his limited repetitions. If not, I think they gave up WAY too soon on an NFL talent. But it's the Raiders....wait was I just dogging Cleveland? How did I miss out dogging on the Raiders? Of course, Greg Little....perfect for you guys.

"We've got a pond in the back....AND a pool...pond'd be good for you."

Loogit Mark Davis keeping up traditions, trading young for old, talent for "trash"! Just knowing  that will keep everyone warm at night. Am I protective of my Hokies in the NFL? Yep, I sure am. No apologies here!

Back with more Hokies in the NFL transactions as they occur. Thanks for stopping in!
