It was a tough loss in a nearly impossible situation as Notre Dame pulled ahead in the 1st, and away in the 2nd. Tech’s offense was frustrated, and Kitley largely neutralized and Tech’s defense struggling.
Finally, the media voters are taking notice. AP just ranked Virginia Tech #5 in the Women’s basketball poll for the week. Liz Kitley is selected ACC Player of the Week, and ESPN names the Hokies as their team of the week. Two more games! GO HOKIES!!!
The baseball team has three wins in a row and some convincing offensive output to give them a 5-2 record. Lots of offensive fireworks for sure, but this time the pitching held up and even got better. GO HOKIES!!!
It was a special Senior Night in the Cassell. Cayla, Georgia, Liz, and Liv all walked with their families, and then the team walked away from UNC to not only win the game but earn the #1 seed and a double bye in the ACC Tournament. GO HOKIES!!!
It’s a mostly cloudy cool day in Blacksburg, and the Hokies take to English Field for Their Home Opener of 2024. The weather brightened and warmed, and the Hokie offense was hot. There were a few struggles, but evantually it was a thrashing. GO HOKIES!!!
AP has finally noticed that Tech is a Top 10 team. Hokies rank 8th in this week’s poll. Liz Kitley gets ACC Player of the Week for an incredible two game total score and rebound count. GO HOKIES!!!
They really wanted a sweep, but the Hokies started the season with a roar of offense and an interesting mix of old and new pitching. They beat the Charlotte 49ers in Games 1 and 2, but come up short of a sweep in Game 3. GO HOKIES!!!
So, the #12 Lady Hokies head to Louisville to take on the #18 Lady Cards for a major stretch run contest, and Tech Triumphs... (no groans) ... with a huge 16-point win. G and Liz double-double, and Tilly comes in with double figures. A complete win. GO HOKIES!!!
This one wasn’t going to be anything close to easy. Duke plays 10, plays tight defense, and gives fouls. The Lady Hokies got beaten and beaten up at Duke. They returned the favor on the former, but still suffered the latter in this one. Liz is a powerhouse, but only 4 players scored for the Hokies. Tough game but Wins are always good.
It was more like a rolling wrestling match than a basketball game, at times. Liz is wolloped, slapped, and shoved, but still double-doubles, Georgia leads in points, Liv doubles up in rebounds. BC gets away with too much, but still comes away with the ‘L’ for the trouble. GO HOKIES!!!
Something about coming from behind to beat one of your top ten ranked conference archrivals at home and then have to face them in their house. The #3 Wolf Pack was waiting, and the #16 Lady Hokies were ready. Tech pulls ahead in the 2nd and builds a big win in the 3rd: 72-61
It’s February, and besides the rush to March Madness, it’s another crossover period for the media, because college baseball season starts off in the middle of winter. The first pitch of 2024 will be on the 16th, so let's get to who’s playing, shall we? GO HOKIES!!!
This one was close. Aside from being Captain Obvious, the reality is that these evenly matched teams had to battle through an entire game and an OT to determine the winner, and the Lady Hokies take it by 9 in the end. GO HOKIES!!!
There were a few dry spells, but the Hokies took the lead early, and held on to it, slamming the door shut with a huge 3rd quarter. The Wahoos could never quite make the difference up. Bacon and Sausage Biscuits for the home crowd. GO HOKIES!!!
