"Defensively they must force Clemson to drive up and down the field and prevent the big play," said Willis, who is recruited by Wide Receivers Coach Aaron Smith. "Offensively, they must maintain good drives to wear down the defense and keep the Clemson offense on the sideline."
"Is it going to be watchable? Begrudgingly, yes, since any game with Denard Robinson is by definition watchable, and because VT's Logan Thomas running downfield is like watching a hippo trash a Gymboree, with racks flying everywhere and children screaming. It's not the matchup either team deserved, but it doesn't mean this won't be interesting to watch."
The amazingly proud traveling Hokie fans racked up an amazing +2,024 fans per road trip for their hosts. This blew Clemson and Miami out of the water (+213 and +617, respectively).Thought you guys might like to see that Virginia Tech helps draw big crowds on the road. "The problem is that they have incorporated so many different philosophies into their scheme, that the players are so-so in their execution. The best programs have a philosophy, and they recruit to it. Bud Foster does it on defense. Beamer must decide if his team is going to be a power running team, a zone blocking team, or a spread team, and recruit accordingly."
"(RB coach Shane Beamer) told me I was getting the first carry," (David) Wilson said. "Then I told him I didn’t have to hear the second play because I was going to take it to the crib."
Backup RT and C Michael Via is out with an ACL, severity and specifics unknown at this time. A thin line gets thinner. #Hokies
"Texas has the Longhorn Network. Texas A&M has the SEC. Aggieyell.com is reporting that the Aggies have cast their lot with and have been accepted by the Southeastern Conference."
"This may sound nuts, but T.J. Millweard (Fort Worth, Texas/All Saints Episcopal) is very, very similar to former Missouri QB and first-round NFL draft pick Blaine Gabbert. He has size, is a deceptive athlete who can run and has the arm to make all the throws with a powerful over-the-top release. Frank Beamer got a steal with this Virginia Tech commit."
"Following the completion of the Virginia Tech fight song by the lone bugler, we headed back to John and Bev’s house, where their expansive grounds proved more than sufficient to hold the RV’s and large crowd that attended. We celebrated John’s life the best way we knew how, with a tailgate that included a Communion just a bit different from the one in which we had partaken at the service."
"Again, this defense is good: Curry is an underrated star-in-waiting, the linebacker corps has a nice blend of experience and youth and the secondary returns all four starters. But the offense is questionable, mainly because the running game remains an issue and we don’t yet know, thanks to injuries, what to expect from the receivers."
