It's back to the drawing board for Miami, which fired head coach Randy Shannon tonight after back-to-back losses to Virginia Tech and South Florida to close out the season. The Canes finished 7-5 overall and 5-3 in ACC play during the regular season, Shannon's fourth as head coach. Check the SBN mothership for more info as the story progresses.
Forward J.T. Thompson will miss the 2009-10 season with a torn ACL. Patrick Stevens of D1scourse looks at what Thompson's absence will mean for the Hokies.

Virginia Tech's game against Duke on Oct. 3 will start at Noon EDT and be an Internet-only, ESPN360 broadcast.

"Just moments ago, Tech released its official injury report for Saturday's game against Marshall. Tight end Greg Boone is listed as doubtful with a sprained joint in the upper chest/shoulder area, and cornerback Stephan Virgil is doubtful with what was simply termed a knee injury." - Norm Wood
