Nightmare Week: Glennon's Revenge

Welcome to Nightmare Week. Every day this week I'll present a worst-case scenario that should keep all Hokie fans from sleeping that night. It may be masochistic, but if you knew my dating history you would understand that's just how I roll.

Setting the stage: The Hokies are 10-0 going into senior day against the NC State Wolfpack. Tech is No. 2 in the country and knows that if it wins three more games it will have a date in Pasadena for the BCSCG.

The Turning Point: The Hokies are ahead 21-3 behind the passing of Tyrod Taylor. The Pack has done a good job of stopping Darren Evans on the ground, but Taylor has thrown two third quarter touchdowns to give the Hokies a comfortable lead.

All is well for the Hokies until NC State quarterback Russell Wilson in injured after taking a wicked shot from defensive end Nekos Brown. Wilson goes to the locker room and is replaced by Mike Glennon, the brother of former Hokie quarterback and whipping boy Sean Glennon.

Worst-Case Scenario: Behind an incredible fourth quarter from Glennon and two Hokie fumbles, the Wolfpack come storming back. Glennon throws for 130 yards and three touchdowns in the fourth quarter, the last one with just over a minute left, to lead NC State to a 24-21 victory.

Taylor throws and interception on the game's final play and the Hokies fall from the ranks of the undefeated. Glennon trots off the field, waving triumphantly to the NC State supporters that are in Lane Stadium.

Aftermath: Distraught, the Hokies struggle to a win the next week in Charlottesville and lose in the ACCCG. They finish their year in the Gator Bowl.
