When Virginia Tech takes the field Thursday against Georgia Tech Thursday it will do so as the No. 20 team in the country according to both the USA Today/ESPN Coaches and Associated Press polls. The Hokies rose one spot in both polls despite their bye week.

After being unranked for five weeks following their loss to James Madison, the Hokies re-entered the polls at No. 23 following their win over Wake Forest on Oct. 16. A win over Duke the next week bumped them up to No. 21 and now they go into the November schedule at No. 20.

Virginia Tech is now the highest-ranked team in the ACC as Florida State and Miami both lost this past week. Florida State is down to No. 24 in both polls while a third conference team, NC State, found its way into the coaches poll at No. 25 and the AP poll at No. 23.
