ACC Softball Tournament in Blacksburg Highlights Busy Spring Sports Weekend

Softball

Virginia Tech is hosting the ACC softball tournament this weekend at Tech Softball Park. The Hokies draw UVa in the first round of the single-elimination tournament at 2:30 p.m. EDT on Friday. The Hokies finished 8-13 in ACC play this year while the Wahoos went 13-7 to earn the No. 2 seed in the tournament.

Earlier this year, the Hokies were swept by UVa in Blacksburg. The Hokies advanced to the semifinals of last year's tournament in Raleigh and won the previous two tournaments. You can get live stats and a video feed of the tournament at the ACC's softball tournament page.

Baseball

The Hokies get back into ACC play after sweeping Savannah State last weekend. No. 15 Virginia Tech hosts a three-game series with Duke at 5:30 p.m. EDT Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. Last year, the Hokies lost two of three in Durham to the Blue Devils, who still have an outside shot to qualify for this year's ACC baseball tournament despite losing six of their last seven series.

Tech is currently 6th in the conference standings and can clinch spot in the tournament field depending on how things go this weekend. The Hokies haven't won a series against Duke since 2005, but have won five of their last six ACC series and are 12-6 in conference play in that span. Live stats are available at HokieSports.com.

Men's Tennis

Virginia Tech returns to the NCAA tournament for the fourth consecutive season and faces Vanderbilt in the first round in Louisville, Ky. The Hokies come into the tournament ranked No. 23 in the country while the Commodores are No. 38.

The Hokies have won their first-round match in the last two NCAA Tournaments but have not advanced to the Sweet 16 since 1999. You can follow live stats from Georgia's tennis page, the NCAA's interactive bracket and the ITA's tournament page.
