On a day when rumored changes among Virginia Tech's coaching staff caused a minor kerfuffle (mp3) among Hokie fans, one object of fans' affections is reportedly up for another ACC job:
Minnesota Vikings quarterbacks coach Kevin Rogers has emerged as the leading contender to become the next Boston College offensive coordinator, according to several sources at the school and in the NFL.
A couple of caveats here. One, Blaudschun misspelled "Bryan Randall" in his story and two, he writes BC will receive the dates for this year's games when the ACC's Michael Kelly assures us that's not the case. So, we can take this report with as many grains of salt as we choose.
Rogers was among the Vikings coaches let go after this past season. He was on Frank Beamer's staff from 2002-2005 and is one of the first names to come up when Virginia Tech fans fantasize about a dreamland where Bryan Stinespring is replaced as offensive coordinator and the Hokies instantly win four consecutive national titles.
As Darryl Slater tweets, the possible Rogers-to-BC move would definitely add a layer of intrigue to the Virginia Tech-Boston College rivalry. It would also be a good hire for the Eagles, who have a promising young quarterback they're trying to develop in Chase Rettig.
