Donaldven Manning, a cornerback from Miami Central High School, committed to Virginia Tech back on Feb. 4. If the Hokies wind up signing him, he'll be the latest in an increasing number of South Florida commits landed by defensive backs coach Torrian Gray. Gray has made great in-roads in Florida and they could result in getting Manning to Blacksburg in the Class of 2012.
There's still a lot of time between now and Signing Day 2012 and a big year by Manning in 2012 could mean calls from powerhouse schools in the SEC and Florida. However, Manning told Cane Insider's Michael Bradley he doesn't see himself going anywhere but Tech at the moment. More from Manning on his choice:
Manning said that his family will support his final choice. "My family supports my decision. They felt Virginia Tech was a great decision because of the NFL products they produce. I got to see some of the Virginia Tech coaches after the Orange Bowl. I have a great relationship with the staff, I like the tradition and academics, and that's why I made my decision early."
