Virginia Tech opened as a seven-point favorite in its game against Clemson Sunday night, according to our friends at OddsShark. With Clemson rolling into Blacksburg with wins against Auburn and FSU and the Hokies offense struggling at times in its last three games, it was possible that the Tigers were going to be favored in this game as they were in 2006 when they came in -4.5 and left with a loss.
I expect a lot of early money to go down on the Tigers and the line could definitely move down. But I think Tech opening -7 shows you just how much respect Vegas has for the Hokies and for their homefield advantage at Lane Stadium.
Tech will come into the game 1-3 against the spread and 0-3 against FBS teams. Clemson comes in 3-1 against the spread and 3-0 against FBS teams. No over/under has been posted for this game yet, but the total has gone over in each of Clemson's last five games and under in four of Virginia Tech's last five games.
