Virginia Tech Climbs Five Spots In Coaches' Poll To No. 20

Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

After entering the rankings for the first time in 19 weeks, the Hokies have climbed five spots in both polls as confirmed by the release of the USA Today Coaches' Poll this afternoon. Tech leapfrogged Florida, Northern Illinois, Michigan, Washington and Nebraska, though Missouri, who beat Georgia this weekend, jumped from unranked to No. 14 overall, passing the Hokies and several other previously ranked teams.

The Hokies also rose five spots in the AP Poll to No. 19 overall, as we informed you this afternoon. Both rankings are the highest the Hokies have been ranked this year in the respective polls.

The ACC also did well, placing three teams in the top-10, Florida State, Clemson and Miami, a feat that hasn't been accomplished since the infancy of conference expansion in 2005.
