Despite being idle this week, the Virginia Tech Hokies moved up in both polls as a result of the craziest week in college football since 2007. Ranking No. 19 in the AP Poll last week, Tech rose to the No. 16 spot, jumping Oklahoma, Louisville and South Carolina. In the USA Today Coaches' Poll, Tech climbed from the No. 20 spot a week ago to the No. 19 spot this week, jumping only South Carolina in the process. Both rankings represent the high-water mark in the polls for the Hokies this year.
Tech will get a chance to improve upon those rankings next Saturday when the Hokies host Duke for the second-consecutive season due to ACC expansion and their decision to dock the Hokies a home game for having scheduled a Pittsburgh home-and-home series before they were members of the conference.
For all future Virginia Tech rankings and football news, Gobbler Country is you best bet. We've got you covered for the remainder of the 2013 season and beyond.
