Coming off an official visit to Virginia Tech where the Hokies downed ACC foe North Carolina, Ricky Walker gave his verbal commitment to Virginia Tech.
Per his Twitter account this morning, Walker posted:
I am officially committed to VIRGINIA TECH ! #Hokies
— Ricky Lake ! (@RickGoGetEmWalk) October 6, 2013
Walker, a defensive tackle from Bethel High School in Hampton, VA, is the latest commitment to an already stacked defensive class for the Hokies. Walker comes in rated as a four-star recruit according to 247sports.com, and the 10th rated player in the state of Virginia.
Walker had offers from big-time programs like Nebraska, Michigan State, South Carolina, Penn State, UNC, Ole Miss, West Virginia and Wisconsin. Walker had 21 offers in total.
Walker joins four-star safety Holland Fisher, four-star defensive back CJ Reavis and four-star defensive end Vincent Mihota as high-profile defensive commitments to Virginia Tech. The recruiting process is far from over, too, with major targets like Derrick Nnadi still uncommitted.
This commitment only adds to what was a solid weekend in Blacksburg. The Hokies moved to 5-1 on the season, and 2-0 in the ACC. Getting a major recruit is just icing on the cake for Virginia Tech.
