Virginia Tech's Women Soccer Set To Host UMBC Friday

After the Virginia Tech's women soccer team lost the ACC Championship Game to Florida State on Sunday, the NCAA rewarded the Lady Hokies with one of the four No. 1 seeds, and are set to play against the University of Maryland Baltimore County on Friday at 5 p.m. at Thompson Field.

A sincere congratulations to the Lady Hokies for earning one of the four No. 1 seeds in the NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament.  In addition to Virginia, Florida State, and North Carolina, Virginia Tech have helped to solidify the ACC's reputation as one of the best soccer conferences in the nation.

Perhaps it was because of the Virginia Tech's resume which, according to Hokiesports, consists of knocking off five ranked soccer teams this season. They also play in the nation's toughest conference when it comes to women's soccer. That is a very impressive body of work. In addition, as Hokiesports points out, this marks the sixth year in a row where the Lady Hokies have earned the invite into the NCAA Tournament:

This is the sixth consecutive year that Tech has been selected to the NCAA Tournament and the first-ever No. 1 seed for the Hokies.

According to the National Soccer Coaches Association, Virginia Tech is ranked (as of November 5th) No. 6 nationally.  Also, TopDrawerSoccer.com have Virginia Tech listed as No. 4 nationally (as of this week).

At least coach Chugger Adair knows that the challenge is ahead of the team according to this humorous tweet from Richmond Time-Dispatch reporter, Mike Barber:

By the way, I just love that name, Chugger. That's what the Hokies need to keep doing on Friday evening, just keep chugging along.

Go Hokies! Make us all proud!
