Hokies in the NFL: Week 9

Another quiet week for Hokies in the NFL due to bye weeks and injuries, but a few players had good outings.

Some news this week on the transaction front: Bruce Taylor was signed to the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad.

James Anderson, LB Chicago Bears -- James racked up six total tackles, all solo efforts. He stopped a third down pass short of a first down on one occasion.
6 TAK, 6 SOLO

Nick Becton, OT San Diego Chargers -- Active (I think) but I couldn't tell you much more than that.

Jarrett Boykin, WR Green Bay Packers -- Boykin pulled in one pass for 15 yards and Aaron Rodgers discount doublechecked himself out of the game early on.
REC, 15 YDS

Duane Brown, OG Houston Texans -- I couldn't find any stats for Duane. He didn't get any flags!

Roc Carmichael, CB Philadelphia Eagles -- Roc was credited with a pass breakup. That's good, right?
PD

Kam Chancellor, S Seattle Seahawks -- Kam racked up seven total tackles with four as solo efforts.
7 TAK, 7 SOLO

Brandon Flowers, CB Kansas City Chiefs -- Flowers tallied six solo tackles (and six total) with a pass defended as the Chiefs stayed undefeated. I guess I need to stop being surprised, huh? Flowers was also flagged for roughing the passer.
6 TAK, 6 SOLO, PD

DeAngelo Hall, CB Washington Redskins -- DeAngelo tallied five total tackles with three as solo efforts and played some pretty solid pass defense on Antonio Gates when the Chargers had the ball with goal to go. Hall was also flagged for a personal foul.
5 TAK, 3 SOLO

Jayron Hosley, CB New York Giants -- Giants had their bye week.

Will Montgomery, G Washington Redskins -- All I can really find for Montgomery is that he was flagged for holding on the game-winning touchdown drive. But hey, had he not held, the Redskins might not have been passing on the re-do of first down.

Josh Morgan, WR Washington Redskins -- Morgan has turned into the Redskins' punt return guy. Against the Chargers, he had returns of 20, 19, 6 and 24 yards for a total of 69 yards on the four returns.
4 PRET, 69 YDS

Eddie Royal, WR San Diego Chargers -- Eddie turned in yet another solid game. He caught a 15-yard touchdown pass to put the Chargers up 14-7 and also had catches of 15 and 21 yards. In all, Eddie caught four passes for 56 yards and a touchdown.
4 REC, 56 YDS, TD

Andre Smith, TE Dallas Cowboys -- Inactive.

Tyrod Taylor, QB Baltimore Ravens -- Did not accumulate any stats.

Darryl Tapp, DE/LB Washington Redskins -- Tapp was inactive :(

Michael Vick, QB Philadelphia Eagles -- Vick was inactive again and well, let's just say the Eagles might not need him the rest of the season. Vick's "back up" Nick Foles threw for seven touchdowns, tying an NFL record. Chip Kelly said that there was no guarantee for Foles to be the starter, but if Vick somehow got the job back no questions asked, I think it'd cause a lot of conflict in that locker room. However, it was the Raiders. So maybe it doesn't count? We had the discussion some last week, but after the week Foles had against the Raiders, do you think Vick has a future in Philadelphia?

Ryan Williams, RB Arizona Cardinals -- Cardinals had their bye week.

David Wilson, RB New York Giants -- Giants had their bye week.

Jason Worilds, LB Pittsburgh Steelers -- Worilds had a nice outing for the Steelers, just overlook that the Pittsburgh defense gave up 55 points. Worilds sacked Tom Brady twice, one for a 2-yard loss, second for a 9-yard loss. Worilds finished the day with five total tackles, three as solo efforts and the pair of sacks. Pretty good.
5 TAK, 3 SOLO, 2 SACKS
