Virginia Tech has a different excitement under the lights of Lane Stadium and this week several of the top high school players from the region will be in Blacksburg to witness the thrill.
Thursday Night will be another big recruiting evening as top targets from the 2015 class including Jalen Dalton, Tim Settle and Garrett Taylor will be in attendance. All three of these visitors will be hosted on unofficial visits, which is still huge as recruits often begin counting down to their commitments this time of year.
Jalen Dalton and Tim Settle are big time defensive line talents that could see early playing time in Blacksburg. Both are rated by 247Sports as high 4/5* prospects and happen to have Virginia Tech as leaders in their recruitment.
Jalen will be visiting Blacksburg for the second time this season on Thursday night and will return next Saturday as the Hokies take on Boston College, which will be his official visit. Several sources have indicated that he will make his college decision on Sunday Nov. 2 just a day after his official at Virginia Tech. It is not a done deal as UNC is still highly regarded by Dalton, but the Hokies are trending in the right direction to land this stud DE.
Tim has had an up and down recruitment, but over the past several months has been looking at the Hokies closely and named them his leader following his official visit a month or so ago. He is a defensive tackle prospect that is not only a space eater, but a helluva pass rusher too. He will be accompanied by his Stonewall Jackson teammate Reggie Floyda top target for the Hokies in the 2016 class.
Garrett Taylor is a top defensive back from the Richmond, VA area who has been a long time Michigan commit. However, due to the uncertainty of Brady Hoke's future, Taylor has started to look around and one of the schools he is keeping an eye on is Virginia Tech although it is a long shot the Hokies keep him out of the BiG10. He will be on an unofficial to Tech Thursday night.
Virginia Tech's biggest recruiting asset on Thursday night might be 4* cornerback commit Mook Reynolds. Mook will be traveling up to Blacksburg with 2016 running back prospect and fellow teammate CJ Freeman. Reynolds has been a long time Tech commit and has approached other top targets to join him in Blacksburg and hopefully he can continue pushing that message on Thursday.
Several other visitors to note include safety prospect JJ Givens who is from the Richmond area and a top target for the Hokies in the 2016 cycle and O-line prospect Riley Metheney from Clearwater Florida. Metheney is a late-bloomer when it comes to recruiting, but a highly underrated tackle prospect that Stacy Searles is very high on.
Go Hokies!
