Virginia Tech Football-Looking Ahead

New, 4 comments

The next two weeks are critical for the Hokies.

Rob Kinnan-USA TODAY Sports

This past weekend the Virginia Tech football team got back on track in the ACC with a 34-17 win over the Tar Heels of North Carolina. It was a good win all around for the Hokies and timely because it happened to be one of the bigger recruiting weekends for the Tar Heels as it fell on their annual basketball night with coach Roy Williams.

One of the attendees was 5* Jalen Dalton who has Tech and Carolina as his top 2. As anticipated, Jalen left Chapel Hill uncommitted and is eyeing a return to Blacksburg in several weeks, potentially for the Miami game on Thursday night, before he makes his decision. Dalton is not the only VT target that could be looking to get back to Tech in the coming weeks, but if the Hokies want to close on some of these top-talents they will need to keep winning.

Winning not only helps with recruiting, but the Hokies need to keep winning in order to keep pace in ACC Coastal Division race. Georgia Tech and Virginia are both 2-0 in the ACC and are the early front runners for the division crown, which makes the final 6 games of the season that more important for the Hokies. The second half of the year will get underway next Thursday night as the Hokies travel to the "Steel City" for a battle with the Pittsburgh Panthers who are 3-3 on the season.

Stay tuned to Gobbler Country for more Virginia Tech coverage and a VT versus Pitt preview later this week.
