Virginia Tech will be hosting many top prospects from across the region this weekend. A total of approximately 60 high schoolers will be in Blacksburg as the 5-6 Hokies battle the 5-6 Cavaliers for bowl eligibility. Several high-profile recruits will be visiting including Josh Sweat, Adonis Williamson as well as committed prospects Mook Reynolds, Trevon Hill, Darius Fullwood and Eric Whitehead, which are members of the 2015 class. A lot of 2016-17 guys will be on campus as well.
Josh Sweat: A weak-side defensive end from Chesapeake, Virginia is a top-priority prospect for the Hokies and one many experts believe has a real chance of landing in Blacksburg. He is a 5* player and the overall number 1 prospect in the 2015 class according to 247Sports. A few months ago he suffered a season-ending knee injury, but is still planning on enrolling early. The current teams that are after him include VT, UGA and FSU. He visited UGA two weeks ago and FSU last weekend. Both of those visits went well, but VT gets the last visit before he commits at his school in two weeks.
Adonis Williamson: The defensive back prospect from Indianapolis, Indiana has the skill-set that Torrian Gray loves. He is long, fast and can really lay the lumber when he needs to. I would compare him to Kyshoen Jarrett although he has the potential to fill-out and be a better tackler than Kyshoen is. He projects to be more of a safety in Foster's defense, but could play all over the field in Blacksburg if he chooses the Hokies.
Committed Players:
Mook Reynolds: A 4* CB from Greensboro, North Carolina has been a Hokie for quite some time and has been big in recruiting other players to VT. He will be working hard on Josh Sweat this weekend in Blacksburg.
Eric Whitehead: Is a physical defensive tackle from Indianapolis, Indiana and will be visiting with Adonis Williamson his high school teammate who is leaning towards VT. Whitehead has been visiting other schools, but will be a Hokies if he can get some academic things cleared up.
Darius Fullwood: Is a talented defensive end who originally committed to Kentucky, but later flipped to VT. He will be on his official visit and is looking to get Josh Sweat to join him in Blacksburg.
Trevon Hill: Is a speedy defensive end from Virginia Beach, Virginia and probably has the most upside of any current commit. He is very talented and will look to put on a lot of weight when he arrives in Blacksburg, but has the potential to make an impact early. I look for him to have a similar role to Dadi Nicolas and be primarily a pass-rusher early on until he can develop into an every-down DE.
Hopefully the staff can seal the deal this weekend as well as get a win over rival UVA. Go Hokies!
