Virginia Tech is home to many successful athletics programs and frankly, we've been slacking on covering them beyond a retweet here and there. We start the week by looking at the recent action of Tech's fall sports as they hit the stretch run.

Cross Country

Both the Virginia Tech men's and women's cross country team's finished sixth at the recent ACC Championships that took place at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Virginia on October 31.

Sarah Rapp and Paige Kvartunas both earned All-ACC honors after top ten finishes in the women's 6k race.

One the men's side, Stuart Robinson was Tech's top competitor with a 22nd place finish in the men's 8k race that left him one spot from All-ACC honors.

Tech has the Hokie Open on Nov. 7 before traveling to the NCAA Regionals Nov. 14 hosted by Louisville.

Men's Golf

Tech wrapped up its fall season with a second place finish at the UNCG Bridgestone Collegiate Oct. 26 at the Grandover Resort East Course in Greensboro, NC.

Senior Scott Vincent finished in second place individually after posting a 9-under 207 over three days. Fellow senior Trevor Cone finished third with a 7-under 209.

Women's Soccer

The 16th ranked Hokies have had a terrific season on the heels of a run to the national semifinal of the NCAA Tournament last year.

Tech posted a 14-5 overall record including two wins over ranked opponents defeating No. 13 Georgetown and No. 17 Clemson. Only the top four teams play in the conference tournament, meaning the Hokies will await the NCAA Tournament selections November 10. First round games begin on the 15th.

Swimming & Diving

Tech's men's and women's swimming & diving team's both knocked off Duke October 26 in Durham, NC. The men won by a score of 180-115 while the women had a 175-116 victory.

Senior Kaylea Arnett was named ACC Female Diver of the Week after winning three events at North Carolina and Duke over the weekend. It marks the sixth time in her Tech career that Arnett has earned the honor.

The men's team is currently ranked 12th in the nation.

The Hokies finished with three singles wins at the 2014 USTA Collegiate Clay Court Invitational in Orlando, FL.

Florian Nicoud, George Cartledge and Aaron Gomez all won for Tech. The Hokies will wrap up fall tournament play this week by sending competitors to the Birmingham Futures, Knoxville Challenge and the ITA National Indoor Championships.

Women's Tennis

Impressive freshman Katherine Butler won the singles C draw at the USTA Collegiate Clay Court Invitational.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Congrats to Katherine Butler as she takes Flight C title <a href="https://twitter.com/2014_CCI">@2014_CCI</a> , defeating Miami&#39;s Slivia Fuentes 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 <a href="http://t.co/yrFK5mbCr4">pic.twitter.com/yrFK5mbCr4</a></p>&mdash; VT Women&#39;s Tennis (@VT_WTennis) <a href="https://twitter.com/VT_WTennis/status/528951564233621505">November 2, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Tech was also victorious in the doubles B draw as Elena Cerezo-Codina and Sansitha Nandakumar pulled out a win over Clemson.

The Hokies have just one tournament remaining in the fall schedule with the Kitty Harrison Invite in Chapel Hill, NC on November 9.

Volleyball

Tech upset No. 21 Duke Sunday in Cassell Coliseum 3-2. Lindsey Owens led four Hokies with double digit kills finishing with 12.

That gives Tech (11-13, 4-7 ACC) its second win over a ranked opponent this season as the Hokies knocked over No. 12 Illinois back in September.

Wrestling

The 12th-ranked Hokies officially start the season next weekend but two individual wrestlers got an early start with some high profile exhibitions.

Devin Carter beat No. 20 C.J. Cobb while Joey Dance fell to No. 3 Alan Waters at the NWCA All-Star Classic In Philadelphia.

Also of note, Tech recently announced a unique series of matches to be held on campus in the gleaming new Moss Arts Center.
