Men's Basketball: VT vs WVU

The Hokies and Mountaineers square off in Morgantown.

Virginia Tech faces a tough test as they play against the #17 Mountaineers of West Virginia in Morgantown at 2pm on ESPNU.

The Hokies will look to slow down a very fast and physical WVU squad that is paced by senior guard Juwan Staten who is averaging 15.9 points per game. On the season the Mountaineers are averaging 78.7 points per game, but are only shooting 42% from the field. WVU will look to get the ball inside and capitalize at the free-throw line as the Mountaineers have made nearly as many free-throws as the Hokies have attempted on the season.

WVU also has two very productive forwards in Devin Williams and Jonathan Holton who combined are averaging 22 points and 14 rebounds per contest. For the Hokies to have success they will need to keep these two off of the glass and limit second chance opportunities.

The Hokies will continue to ride the youth movement that Coach Buzz Williams has brought to Blacksburg as Justin Bibbs, Jalen Hudson, and Ahmed Hill will need to play very well on defense and efficient on offense to contend this afternoon. I expect the Hokies to press the length of the court on defense and attack on offense in transition.

Go Hokies!
