After a slightly nervous Sunday afternoon that saw bowl projections change frequently, Virginia Tech finally knows it will take on Cincinnati in the Military Bowl December 27 at 1 p.m. at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland.
I'm told, as expected, the Military Bowl will feature a Virginia Tech-Cincinnati matchup. #Hokies headed to Annapolis. #BabcockBowl

The game will quickly be known as the "Whit Babcock Bowl" as Tech's athletic director served in the same capacity at Cincinnati prior to coming to Blacksburg.
The Bearcats (9-3, 7-1 AAC) finished in a tie for first in the American Athletic Conference, but lost a head to head match up with Memphis early in the season that served as a tiebreaker.
The Hokies (6-6, 3-5 ACC) are 5-5 all-time against Cincinnati with a 5-2 record under Frank Beamer. The Bearcats won the last meeting between the teams 27-24 in 2012 at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland.
This will mark the third time Tech and Cincy have faced off in a bowl game. The Bearcats won the 1947 Sun Bowl 18-6 and Tech won the Orange Bowl 20-7 in 2009.
