JUCO forward Shane Henry is the latest recruit to earn an offer from new Tech head coach Buzz Williams as the April 16 opening of college basketball's spring signing period rapidly approaches.
Henry is a 6'8" forward from Georgia Perimeter College where he averaged 13.2 PPG and 12.5 RPG as a sophomore last season. Henry shot the ball well (51.3 FG%) but right now he's most impressive on the defensive end where he blocked 4.7 shots per game (136 total) good for third best in the nation.
His defensive rebounding ranks seventh overall, a performance good enough to earn him Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association defensive player of the year.
As is often the case there are conflicting numbers on his weight, but he appears to be sub-200 pounds at the moment. That could easily change with a summer in a division I weight room.
Henry originally attended Newton High School in Georgia but flew under the radar of college coaches thanks in part to a late growth spurt. Now, as Brad Winton first reported Monday Henry will choose between the Hokies and Arkansas Razorbacks.

The Hokies have razor thin depth in the frontcourt with the loss of Trevor Thompson, so getting Henry to sign with Tech would be huge. Technically, Arkansas has already filled all of its available scholarships for next season, but as Tech fans know all too well those numbers can and will change overnight.

Tech Signee Justin Bibbs Wins Again
For the second consecutive season, Bibbs and his Montverde Academy teammates were crowned champions of the Dick's Sporting Goods High School National Tournament knocking off Virginia's Oak Hill Academy 71-62 Sunday in New York's Madison Square Garden.
Bibbs scored 17 points for Montverde and scored in double figures in every game of the tournament. The Eagles finished a perfect 28-0 on the season.
The left-handed Bibbs signed his letter of intent to attend Virginia Tech in the fall over offers from Cincinnati and Dayton among others. He's been fairly quiet publicly following Tech's coaching change, but for what it's worth, he still lists himself as a "Virginia Tech Commit #WhyNot" on his Twitter page.
