The younger Beamer currently serves under his father, head coach Frank Beamer, as Virginia Tech's running backs/assistant head coach. He is coming off a huge Military Bowl victory in which his unit gained 210 yards against Cincinnati. While Shane has been coaching the running backs since his arrival to Blacksburg in 2011, he did serve as a special teams assistant with at South Carolina for two seasons.
If Shane decides to leave his father's staff, it would be a huge blow to Virginia Tech's recent wave of positive momentum going into next season.
