The Hokies will be on a road trip this week, as they travel to both #5 Louisville Cardinals (14-2, 2-1 ACC) and #18 North Carolina Tar Heels (12-4, 2-1 ACC). Virginia Tech (8-7, 0-2 ACC) looks to compete, if not pull off an upset during this difficult week.
The Louisville Cardinals are coming off a 72-71 loss to North Carolina Saturday.
If the Hokies are going to beat the Cardinals they will need to get huge contributions from their two leading scorers Justin Bibbs and Adam Smith. Louisville will bring a frantic full-court pressure defense to try to create turnovers early, something that VT will need to avoid to prevent digging themselves in a early hole.
The Tar Heels will have a tune up match against North Carolina State before taking on the Hokies.
The Hokies will rack up plenty of big game experience for their 5 freshman this week.
As for the Women, they will be playing twice this week as well. They will play #13 Duke Blue Devils (11-5, 2-1 ACC) on the road before traveling back home to take on Florida State (15-2, 3-1 ACC).
The Lady Hokies (9-8, 0-4 ACC) have yet to register a victory during the 2015 calendar year. This is after a December where the Lady Hokies had a record of 5-2 including 5 straight wins to finish the month strong. However, after entering ACC play they have dropped 4 consecutive games, and have dropped to 13th in the ACC standings.
Led by Sophomore Vanessa Panousis and Freshman Rachel Camp the Lady Hokies look to get their first win of the 2015 calendar year this week.
