Georgia Tech will host the Hokies on Thursday night, and the GC staff weighs in with their selections.

If the offense shows up this week, and once again, if Michael Brewer stays on his feet, we are good for 28 points. The problem will be the defense, not the offense. Can the defense contain the option, even with Georgia Tech's quarterback being a stellar runner? Unfortunately, with too much time off the field (I am not a believer in bye weeks, they create rust and kill momentum) and a serious problem operating enough people in the box across the line of scrimmage, the Georgia Tech Offense (which has been good for 20-24 points per game with few exceptions this season, is going to give us a serious run for our money. That's figuratively and literally. So this one is going to be on the Brewer lead offense to stay on the field, keep the game out of third and long, avoid three play punt disasters, and score touchdowns, not just field goals. If the Hokies do that, it's going to be 28-23 Hokies. We won't talk about if they don't.

We haven't stopped a running QB all year. Nothing new in Bobby-Dodd:
Georgia Tech 31 Hokies 17
Jay Johnson(5-4)
After Coach Beamer’s retirement announcement I believe that the team is going to be playing with an intensity and passion that has not been seen in quite some time. That being said, one cannot forget the precarious situation the Hokies find themselves in the late season. Virginia Tech can only lose one game and still remain bowl eligible, and GT is arguably their easiest remaining opponent. In the past the Hokies have struggled with running QBs and robust rushing attacks, but I believe that Virginia Tech will come out swinging. There is more to fight for than simply a bowl appearance and I think we see that when the Hokies defeat Georgia Tech, 35-17.
Matt Costello(5-4)
This will be a close one, but Brewer leads the offense to the win. 31-21 Hokies!
Joshua Schneider(5-4)
This is going to be about as blunt as I can be: The Hokies need to go out, stuff the option with discipline, get the ball moving against their okay pass defense and not great rush defense, and win one for the old man. You HAVE TO GET this game- UNC is NOT likely, and UVA's been a tossup the past 2 years. Go out and kick some butt, please. VT 27-GT 21.
Chelsea Lindner(5-4)
I think this game will be a close one. Georgia Tech doesn't have a great record but they've been able to put up points this season. I think if our offense can show up and perform, and the defense can make key stops we will come out on top and Beamer will get his final Thursdaynight win, 28-21.

Georgia Tech is a team that has given up on the season. The Hokies on the other hand, want to play hard for coach Beamer and send him out on the right note. The underdog will win outright on Thursday. Hokies 24-17.
There you have it! What say you Hokie Nation?
