VT vs UVA Preview

Virginia Tech travels to Charlottesville for a 4:00 pm tilt with the UVA Cavaliers.

Saturday afternoon, the Virginia Tech Hokies travel to #2 UVA for a 4:00pm tip-off. This is the second meeting between these two teams this season as the Cavaliers squeaked out 50-47 victory in Blacksburg back in January.

The Cavaliers have lost only once all season, against Duke, but have been challenged a few times as they are not a high potent offense. However, Virginia might be the best defensive team in the country, which fuels their very efficient, slow pace offense. The Cavaliers will be led by Malcolm Brogdon and Anthony Gil who combine for 24+ points and 10+ rebounds per contest.

Last time out the Hokies lost in overtime at home against #4 Duke with Jalen Hudson, Adam Smith, Devin Wilson and Justin Bibbs scoring in double figures while shooting 53% from the field on the game. This afternoon the Hokies will look to continue to play aggressive defensively while attacking the rim on the offensive end. If the Hokies can limit Virginia's  second chance opportunities by rebounding the basketball they should be able to attack in transition, which is the most effective way to attack the Cavaliers. Also, they Hokies will need to continue to shoot the ball well from outside because inside points, against a set defense, will be hard to come by.
