After very strong seasons from Defensive Ends Ken Ekanem and Dadi Nicolas, the Hokies are continuing to build their strong Defensive End corps by signing three new recruits. All three of these players will add to the depth on the defensive line for the Hokies and should compete for playing time in the 2015-16 season.

Darius Fullwood is a 6’4, 240 lb. defensive end from Olney, Md. Fullwood is a three-star recruit who played his high school football at Good Counsel, where he was a three-year starter. During his senior season, Fullwood anchored one of the Metropolitan area’s toughest defenses, racking up 35 tackles, including 7 tackles for loss and forcing two fumbles. The Falcons gave up just 14 points per game en route to a WCAC title. He earned second team All-Met and first team Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) honors. Fullwood originally had committed to play at the University of Kentucky but backed out and chose Virginia Tech. Fullwood ultimately chose Tech because of the close proximity to home and also the relationships he had built. He is excited to join former Good Counsel teammate on an elite Hokies defense.

Houshun Gaines is a 6’4, 220 lb. defensive end from Rocky Mount, NC. Gaines is a three-star recruit who played at Nash Central High School. During his senior season Gaines was an absolute beast, leading his team with 78 tackles, 10 sacks, and 15 tackles for a loss. Gaines was originally committed to play at the University of Florida but ultimately decided on Virginia Tech. Gaines will join incoming recruit Darius Fullwood as another strong force on the defensive line, adding even more depth to the already very strong lineup.
Trevon Hill is a 6’4, 220 lb. defensive end from Virginia Beach, VA. Hill is a four-star recruit who played his high school football at Salem High School in Virginia Beach. Hill also had an offer from the University of North Carolina, but ultimately chose to play for Bud Foster and the lunchpail defense. Hill excelled at Salem because of his size, versatility and speed at the defensive end position. Hill dominated during his junior season at Salem racking up 23 sacks and being named to the All-Region and All-State Teams while leading the Sun Devils to the 5A South Region Championship game. Hill left Salem during his senior year for unspecified reasons but is excited to join the Hokies in the fall. Hill joins both Houshun Gaines and Darius Fullwood in a very strong defensive end recruiting class.
The Hokies have had a very successful recruiting season and are looking forward to bouncing back to the top of the ACC during the upcoming year.
