After tearing his ACL against Western Michigan last season, Shai McKenzie's comeback was halted by legal woes. Athletic Director Whit Babcock said in an email to the Roanoke Times,"We are aware of the situation and misdemeanor arrest," he wrote. "We take these matters seriously. Coach Beamer has suspended Shai indefinitely from all team related activities as of yesterday. It's in the hands of the proper authorities and we will respect the process." McKenzie, and another student are being investigated for having carnal knowledge of a child between the ages of 13 and 15.

McKenzie had 269 yards rushing and three touchdowns in his injury shortened season. He was rehabbing and participating with the team as late as Tuesday.
This will surely open up some touches in a backfield that finished below expectations last year.
