September 10, 2016 is the day college football might change forever. Bristol Motor Speedway will be the venue. The two teams facing off are Virginia Tech and Tennessee. Both teams are are on the upswing for different reasons. Butch Jones and the Volunteers should be preseason favorites to win the S.E.C. east next season. The Hokies have a first year coach for the first time in almost three decades. Bristol Motor Speedway has a capacity of 160,00 according to Wikipedia. I have seen estimates of 140k attending the game. The actual capacity might be adjusted as the logistics of playing a football game are worked out. It was interesting to see Tennessee's Football twitter account post an early pic of the imagined layout.

It is not as visuallly arresting as Lane Stadium "inserted" into B.M.S., but cool as hell nonetheless. Gobbler Country will be all over this history making event. It could be the largest attended college football game of all time. This might be a precursor of sorts for different venues than the typical norm. I'm just glad Virginia Tech got the opportunity to be a part of history and look forward to seeing what's next.
