Virginia Tech Needs A Signature Win

It’s been awhile since the Hokies had a clutch win, can the Hokies pull the upset in Chapel Hill?

NCAA Football: North Carolina at Virginia Tech Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

Justin Fuente has had a smashing first year. The Battle at Bristol could be argued as his first real test. I would argue, this weekend is much more important. The Hokies, have entered the Top 25 for the first time in some years. Larry Fedora has the North Carolina program on the rise. Virginia Tech may have some questions, but North Carolina has expectations. Coach Fuente is going on the road in A.C.C. country in search of his first road conference win. If the Hokies can shock the ‘Heels, then the matchup against Miami looms larger. Most pundits would argue the Hokies have no realistic shot. I would argue the Hokies are primed for greatness. When you have nothing to lose, it’s a scary proposition. The Hokies have nothing to lose.

With so much to lose, the Tarheels seem ready for the letdown. The Hokies, fresh of a bye, seem ready to pounce. It is the first road A.C.C. test for Fuente, but all signs point to the upset. Can Fuente win the games he needs to win? Or, is it more of the same? We shall see on Saturday.
