Virginia Tech Women Top 25 In Coaches’ Poll

Coach Kenny Brooks has Hokies in poll for the first time since 2006

NCAA Womens Basketball: Tennessee at Virginia Tech Michael Shroyer-USA TODAY Sports

The Virginia Tech Women’s basketball team has officially entered some rarified air. Kenny Brooks has his squad at a perfect 10-0, and has garnered some national accolades. The Hokies were voted #25 in the latest Coaches’ Poll, and are currently #24 in the AP poll. The Hokies have had some big wins in the young season. They defeated then #17 Tennessee, as well as Nebraska. The Tennessee game seemed to galvanize the Hokies, as they have blasted their last three opponents.

The Hokies have three more non-conference games before heading into A.C.C. play. The Hokies will travel to the Plains, and face Auburn on Dec. 18. They then host Radford and Delaware State in Blacksburg. The momentum is strong with this group, but it will need all it has when the Tarheels come calling on Jan. 2. The Tarheels are currently 8-1, and will certainly test the Hokies in Blacksburg. Chanette Hicks leads Virginia Tech with 16.8 PPG.
